In November 2023, we had the privilege of contributing to one of the region’s most prominent motor festivals—Liwa Festival—with the design and production of a landmark sculpture that celebrates both tradition and progress.
Crafted by the skilled artisans of the SPME team, the sculpture was fabricated from lightweight yet high-strength aluminum, rising to an impressive 7 meters in height and weighing over one ton. The project reflects a flawless blend of artistic expression and engineering expertise, underscoring SPME’s commitment to precision and innovation.
From concept to completion, the project was delivered in just six weeks, showcasing not only the team’s efficiency but also the influence of advanced tools like AI in accelerating creative development. The sculpture—strategically placed at the Liwa Sculpture Roundabout—now stands as a visual tribute to the festival’s embrace of modern design and cultural identity.
The creative process began with an AI-generated visual, submitted by the client as the conceptual foundation. This image served as the catalyst for a unique collaboration between designers and structural engineers who refined it into a buildable, structurally sound piece.
Once the design was finalized, SPME’s production team executed the build with precision, using aluminum metal to form the sculpture’s flowing, dynamic structure. Every element was fabricated with attention to scale, weight distribution, and surface finish.
Installation required careful planning due to the size and weight of the piece. Despite the logistical complexity, SPME’s installation team completed the process smoothly, placing the sculpture at the heart of the festival grounds where it now commands attention and admiration.
This project is a powerful example of how technology, craftsmanship, and collaborative design can come together to bring a bold vision to life. The Motor Sculpture now stands as a symbol of Liwa Festival’s evolving identity—a celebration of heritage, innovation, and the creative spirit.
